Nestled on a hillside in Northern California, Aidlin Darling Design’s Trestle Residence is a private house that negotiates its complex undulating site with great sensitivity, embodying the agrarian character of an active farm, reflecting the sensibility and ethos of its owners.
Trestle Residence has recently been awarded a 2023 International Architecture Award and has received a 2023 American Architecture Award Honorable Mention by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Structures are arranged to exploit the site’s diversity of views, foliage, and topography.

‘Beauty, delight and joy’: 2023 NSW Architecture Awards winners revealed
The New South Wales chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects announced the winners of the NSW Architecture Awards on Friday 23 June.
Australian Institute of Architects NSW Chapter President Adam Haddow said the winning projects were at the pinnacle of Australian design.
““I am incredibly proud of the cultural, economic and societal contribution architects and architecture make to the state of NSW,” Haddow said.
“The awarded projects not only help us make sense of a complex world, but they deliver beauty, delight and joy.”
ARM Architecture’s Sydney Opera House renewal, which reimagined the interior spaces of the concert
