A design for a portable, sustainable 250 square foot house is no tall order. But back in June, online design magazine, Volzero, put $3200 USD on the line for designers to honor this request through their Tiny House Design Competition.

Studio Aisslinger completes “nature-loving” renovation of Hotel Seegarten

Designer Werner Aisslinger has renovated a lakeside hotel in Germany’s Sauerland region, adding hydroponics and locally sourced materials including wood and terrazzo to craft interiors informed by the surrounding nature.

Hotel Seegarten is owned and operated by TV chef Olaf Baumeister, who took over the traditional inn from his parents in 1992 and has overseen its transformation into modern boutique accommodation.

Werner Aisslinger’s studio was influenced by the hotel’s location overlooking the Sorpesee lake when developing its “nature-loving” concept for the guest rooms and public areas.

St. Mary’s Hospital reveals $90 million renovation plan and new designs

On May 21, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital unveiled renderings of the updated hospital facade and shared progress on the ongoing modernization project, estimated at around $90 million.

The renovation will feature state-of-the-art surgical suites, modern patient rooms, redesigned clinical spaces to enhance efficiency and improvements to other service areas.

It also includes the removal of portions of the current campus, moving the helipad closer to the emergency department, and extending an indoor walkway to connect the hospital to the medical office buildings.
