Project Description

The Frame House enriches the experience of the waterfront through architecture.

The house is located on a steep slope overlooking the South China Sea. The design consists of a compact arrangement of equally-sized concrete cubes, each with one outward-facing aperture.

Each cube defines a different room in the house and frames a specific view of ocean, sky, or garden. The first level of the home clusters around a sunken garden, while the second attention surrounds the pool, and the third orients the viewer out towards the waterfront.

By designing the house as a collection of concrete boxes, the architects were able to maximize the space. Poured concrete acts as an efficient technique to combine structure and utilities in one.
